These partitions must be free standing and self-supporting and have a overall thickness of 70mm. These shall comprise of an internal framework comprising of vertical members made from minimum 16 gauge CRCA steel formed into channels duly powder coated. These vertical channels shall have slits in them at a pitch of 25.4mm to accept panel-mounted components. They must also have a provision for accepting tile claddings of various finishes. The horizontal members of this framework must be made from 18 gauge MS sections having an overall dimension of 19mm x 38mm.
These panels must be vertically modular i.e. the heights of these panels may be increased subsequently by adding on frames and claddings on top of the basic panel structure.
The panel joinery of these panels shall be simple and effective in order to install the panels in any desired configuration and also to dismantle and reinstall in any other altered configuration. Two adjacent frames shall be connected to each other by means of nuts and bolts having a minimum size of M6.
These panels shall be connected to each other in a "T" "L" "+" configuration by means of MS sections of minimum 16 gauge thickness.
The laminated regions of these panels shall comprise of 12mm thick pre-laminated particleboard having all its edges lipped with 0.45mm thick PVC edging.
The fabric regions will be upholstered with fabric having a basic cost of Rs.125/- per meter (1.2m width).
The fabric regions will be of the following types :
- For all regions along passages - Hard board in which the fabric will be upholstered directly on 12mm thick plain particle board
- For all regions in front of the user - Magnetic tack board in which the fabric is upholstered on 12mm thick plain particle board with a GI skin of 0.25mm thickness below the fabric.
The top edges of all panels as well as end vertical edges will be fitted with profiled Aluminum extrusions having a minimum thickness of 1.25mm, duly powder coated.
All partitions are must be provided with leveling bolts of minimum M10 size and a plastic head in order to accommodate any variations in the floor level.
All partition panels shall be provided with a bottom raceway having hinged covers on either side made from minimum 22 gauge CRCA steel duly powder coated. Cut outs of appropriate dimensions will be provided in these covers for fixing the switches, sockets, etc.
Additional intermediate raceways shall also be provided at the level of the work surface, which will also have hinged covers made from 22 gauge CRCA steel duly powder coated. Cut outs of appropriate dimensions will be provided in these covers for fixing the switches, sockets, etc
Both raceways heights must have an internal clear height of 100 mm.
All panels shall conform to the following sections of ANSI / BIFMA X5.6-2003 –Tests for Panel Systems;
- Force stability test– Sec’n 5.1
- Impact stability test – Sec’n 5.2
- Mechanical strength with static function load test - Sec’n 6.2
- Mechanical strength with static proof load test - Sec’n 6.3
- Panel glide strength test - Sec’n 7.0
